In Ontario, a first-time home buyer can qualify for the Land Transfer Tax Rebate of up to a maximum of $4,000.00 of the total land transfer tax. There are several factors that determine whether you will be eligible for this rebate, namely:

  1. You must be 18 years of age or older;
  2. You must be a permanent resident of Canada;
  3. You must intend to occupy the home within 9 months of purchase; and
  4. You cannot have previously owned a home in Canada or elsewhere in the world.
